It is so amazingly crazy how fast a year just passes by. I'm literally freaking out, Christmas Eve is tomorrow, and I still haven't got my Mum something. Not because I don't love her, I adore her. She's just the most awkward person to buy for, as a woman/girl... female I know how tense Christmas is opening presents that you know you probably wont like, and trying your hardest to act like you love it to spare the feelings of the person who gave it to you, knowing it'll be tucked away in your room for the proceeding future.
But I had an expedition in town today trying to get presents in time, obviously with the weather conditions I got in an unexpected workout, bonus!
I spent four hours trudging around town in search for presents, but I just couldn't find anything I know my mum would appreciate so I might just give her money to go out for a meal with My dad, that could work.
I'm the worst person in the world for getting presents, its just such an awkward thing handing over a present, I always feel like an idiot unless I know for a fact they'll love it. Normally I'm a total scrooge and don't buy presents for people for 3 reasons
1) If they don't like it... total waste of money
2) wont get it for the sake of it unless they actually need it... total waste of money
3)getting a present for all of your friends is a total waste of money
I did get a present for all my friends one year but it rinsed My money so much I refuse to buy Christmas presents for anyone other than family and five of My friends, purely for My bank accounts sake.
Its weird how you go through stages of excitement about Christmas as well, when I was younger I used to do stake outs on the Christmas tree to catch a glimpse of Santa but I always fell asleep around midnight and had around two hours sleep, for many years until I turned twelve or thirteen, that's when sleep became a bigger priority, and still is now, but My Sister at 17 came running into My room to wake Me up at five in the morning last year, I really hope she doesn't this year, I'm quite a fan of sleep recently, I sleep between ten and sixteen hours. And if the next switch of excitement for Christmas is 17 then this is My last year to enjoy the lie in.
Christmas time for Me is always VERY traditional, in the sense that the same thing happens every year. 1st of December My Mum puts up all of the Christmas decorations, but only on the bottom floor. Which means they are everywhere, the banister, all the fireplaces, the mirrors, around the top of each room and finally we have two Christmas trees, Oh and she also puts black tape on the windows in a cross hatch and sprays on fake snow. Its quite amazing.
Christmas eve we spend having a lovely meal with the family friends, we do a secret Santa every year between 28 of us, make a night of it by going out. Then Christmas we get up, well my sister wakes everyone up. We go downstairs to the living room, Mum hands out the presents for Me and my Sister, my Mum and Dad exchange presents and then Me and my Sister give our presents to the parents, Mum gets us tidying everything up, and taking our presents to our room before we get ready to go to my grandparents local church for the Christmas service with them and my cousins, the auntie and the uncle. Then its back to my house for Christmas dinner cooked by probably the best cook ever, my MUM! and I know I might be biased but she makes some tasty food.
After that all I do is visit the rest of the family to do the exchanging of presents and eating more food to get nice and fat for the rest of winter.
